Who is eligible for the grant?

To be eligible for the EMDG, you need to be selling internationally and you need to provide evidence that your products were either made or developed in Australia.

Your application needs to show that a significant amount of your product’s value was created here. We ensure all your product information is documented properly for assessment.

EMDG cash refunds

You may be entitled for a refund of up to 50% on your eligible costs, to a maximum value of $150,000 each year.

The maximum grant you may be entitled to each year depends on the grant Tier that you are eligible for and the annual budget allocated for grants by the Government.

You can apply for 8 grant years in total.

Expenses eligible for refunds through the EMDG

The EMDG covers a broad range of marketing expenses connected to your international sales. The typical eligible expenses an online seller might typically claim include: 

• Paid advertising (Google AdWords, Facebook, Amazon PPC)
• Marketing agency fees
• Product photography 
• Website and Shopify store costs
• International trademarks and patents 

How to apply for the grant

Applications are made for a 2-year or 3-year grant agreement depending on your tier eligibility.
